Learning and Development Specialist

The Learning and Development Specialist assists the Employee Development Manager in designing, developing, coordinating and facilitating District training and development programs, materials, and marketing. Additionally, this position assists the Employee Development Manager in coordinating the District Wellness Program and maintaining internal communication functions such as monthly newsletters and the Intranet home page.

Qualifications required:

 Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) years of learning and development

experience

 Knowledge of adult instructional learning theory and principles

 Knowledge of instructional design and training methodologies

 Proven success as self-starter who takes ownership of projects

 Must have good analytical, problem solving, and communication skills

 Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

 Demonstrated ability to learn new software and platforms

 High degree of dependability, motivation, adaptability, and flexibility

 Strong attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot and recognize

errors

 Strong written and verbal communication skills

 Valid Texas Driver License

Qualifications desired:

 Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Captivate, and Final Cut Pro

 Experience managing health promotion and/or health management

programs, conducting wellness initiatives, educational and member/group

activities, and handling multiple complex, concurrent projects

 Basic knowledge of printing and fulfillment processes, design principles, web

design, photography and video production concepts. Basic knowledge of

HTML and CSS is a plus. If applicable, please provide samples of work

performed.

 Bilingual

Essential functions and responsibilities:

 Assist in the design, development, sourcing and delivery of in-house training

that incorporates a blended approach to learning & development, including,

but not limited to, one-on- one coaching, classroom/workshop training, and

online training

 Compile handbooks, manuals, guides, and other materials so training

programs are delivered with high quality resources

 Work cross functionally within the organization to organize, coordinate and

manage wellness initiatives to promote employee engagement

 Assist in the creation and delivery of the monthly company and training

newsletters

 Perform administrative functions associated with the platforms unique to

this role (BizLibrary LMS, Vitality, Service Now, and SharePoint)

 Evaluate and measure program success (short and long term), year over year

engagement, and make recommendations for enhancements and

improvement

 Responsive, accountable, strong employee focus, passionate about people

and comfortable with frequent changes and change management

 Willing to travel up to two (2) times per month to company locations to

perform outreach functions

 Acquire and obtain knowledge of the District’s wellness facilities to include

locations, equipment inventory, and on site fitness class schedules.

work that will expose the employee to weather conditions prevalent at the

time.
